Snow crew

I had the day off today so I took the time to get my CC 104 and my toro snow blower ready for winter. I tuned up the 104 new plug, adjusted the valves, cleaned the carb, adjusted the points, changed oil, and changed air and fuel filters. My toro snowblower got a new plug and belt.

Sounds like you had a busy day!

All I did today to the 147 was put the weights on the wheels and install chains. (put the blade on last week.) I have yet to put 10W-30 in it's still running 30wt.

Must have been the day for it, I chained up the 1882 and put the 450 snow blower on for the first time. Figured out I need wheel weights! I couldn't back it up the concrete apron to the shop without spinning the back tires!

I forgot to add that I had the tires filled with washer fluid for even more weight. I used the tractor today to move leaves with my yard cart.

It's good to be ready. I have a question. You run 10/30. In winter. I just bought 30 weight.

drglinski 11-14-2016 07:54 PM

30 wt is good to run in the late spring/summer/early fall. IH recommended 10wt in the winter but since you can't buy 10wt anymore 10W 30 it is. The 10wt viscosity helps it start when it's cold and lubricates the engine. 30wt, until it warms up, won't do much good trying to lube a piston when it's cold (assuming you get 'er started.) Save the 30wt for summer and go get some 10W 30.

Here is mine ready to go. Oil was changed today.

I've got the biggest CCA battery I could find under the hood and I typically put a trickle charger on it 12 or so hours before I anticipate using it to help turn that big 14 HP over.

Looks like you guys are ready,I woke up the ol' 125 this past weekend out of its slumber,
Started right up,I always has 10w30 in it as I only use it in the winta!

yamachuck 11-15-2016 06:57 AM

Ok will do. Thanks for the response. My 2 tractors are basically snow removal 125 with a thrower and the 100 with a plow. Going to store the 149 this weekend and do oil changes on the other 2.
