1440 Low Battery Light
 

I'm new to this , I'd like to post a question asking for a wiring diagram for a 1440 Cub. I tried to figure out how to post when I first joined and got frustrated and signed out, So I am back today trying again. (forgot my username and password ) got that all squared away. Now I'd like to get a diagram so I can check voltages on my "Low battery light" when I engage my PTO. Thanks! Gary C.

Do whatever you did here except in the appropriate category. I'm not certain but isn't your machine built by CCC and not IH? If so go to the main page and drop down 6 categories to CCC/MTD machines and post a new thread there. The one above it is for IH machines, the 2 below it are for small machines.

The low voltage light is a very common issue with the Cyclops series. Most of the time it is not a problem. If you have a meter hook it up to the battery while you are running the tractor with the PTO on and see what it really is doing. If in fact it is not charging properly then I would replace the Briggs voltage regulator with a Kohler regulator. The B&S regulators suck. Keep us posted and I'm sure we can help you sort it out.

sorry, I'm new to cubs, didn't realize I was in the wrong area. also sorry for my delayed response. ( My password wouldn't work to get me back in to check) I just got back in today after getting another new password. And I just re posted my original problem. (probably again in the wrong area) Like I said I'm new , I didn't even realize that I have a "Cyclops" (new term for me) I thought as long as it's says "Cub Cadet" and it's yellow I was in the right place. anyways, thanks for your answer to my problem. The 1440 is a Cub Cadet. It is referred to by the lay person as the "cyclops" series, referring to the single head light in the front grill.

I know this sounds stupid but to me the best way to fix the low voltage light on the Cyclops is to remove the bulb. Put a volt meter on the tractor so you know what is really going on.

I take the easy way out and don't do anything except see if the battery runs down. If it does, time to start checking something. I have five Cyclops that the light comes on and the batteries down't run down.

Both of the cyclops we have act the same way but only when the pto and headlights are on. Have not seen the battery going down as a result. About the only time we have both operating is in the winter using snow blowers. Also both of our cyclops have room for a larger battery than a garden tractor battery.

Thanks for all the information, the battery has never been low and it always starts. I like the idea of a regular amp gauge instead of the light. Thanks for all the assistance. Gary C
