Cub Cadet 100 won't start after repairing head!
 

Hi Cub 100 enthusiasts!

I have a Cub 100 with 10 hp Kohler. The head was leaking, so I removed it and had bare minimum removed to make flat. Tractor started and ran fine to that point. Replaced head, change spark plug, started it, and was able to drive it about 30 feet. It died and wont start again. I need help trouble shooting. My grass is really getting long. Wife says I better get on it. I'm at a loss what to check. Please help.

Sounds like the fuels shut off or you ran out of gas. I'd check both of those and then check for spark, if you have spark then it's a fuel issue. Might just be some dirt clogging the carb

Put the old plug back in and try. What brand plug did you put in?

OK, guys, what are the odds of the coil going bad right after I replaced head gasket? Well, I had plenty of gas in gas tank, using same plug before I had head gasket issues. So, first I checked on/off switch for continuity (OK), then checked for spark (no spark) Then swapped out working coil from my original to the 100, It fired up up within seconds. Conclusion: bad coil. Thanks for the input. Grass is getting cut, once again.

Just for giggles, after the grass is mowed, shut it off and swap the "Bad" coil back to see if it is really a bad coil.
I've seen stranger things.
Son has a 149, and the wire coming out of the condenser had broken off,
but remained in the hole in the condenser.
It ran well till it decided to act up when it wanted too.
He chased that intermittant a long time and found it quite accidentally.
When it ain't broke you can't fix it so to speak.
