102 PTO Inspection
2 Attachment(s)
Well I got my PTO off the 102 and need a little advice as to what I should look for while it's apart. The bearing on the shaft seems to spin freely for as rusty as it looks. Any tips are appreciated.
Thanks, Steve |
Was it not working?
Looks like it has had little use... |
It was stuck engaged. The wear button was gone and the thrust button was worn to a point because of the missing wear button. I just picked up this machine a few weeks ago and am going through it to get everything working.

I'd go through it.
Then you will know for certain just what you have got. |
Take it apart and post pics. May have not been adjusted right.
Rear pressure plate looks new, and the clutch disk does too. Probably doesn't need rebuilt. Just adjusted. Take it apart anyway and clean it all up. Post some pics... |

At minimum he needs a new thrust button in addition to the wear button on the arm. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...0&postcount=21 |

The thrust button and wear button are shot new ones are on the way now. I took apart the PTO and there was lots of rust. It looks like the thing must have sat in the rain for years. The pressure plate was rusted stuck to the fiber friction disc. I'm assuming this is why my PTO was always stuck in the engaged position. Can I just clean up the rust and reuse these parts from the look of things?
Thanks again guys!! You guys are a great source of knowledge!! |
Looks like quite a bit of the clutch material stuck to the pressure plate. Might want to get a new disk. The pulley and the pressure plate can be cleaned up and reused. :beerchug:
Looks like you just need to buy a kit. |
Touch up the plates, easily done on a belt grinder.
So they have a cross hatch pattern, like a cyl wall when it's honed. Do it right and it will give you years of service when properly adjusted. |
