Kohler kt17 series 2 misses and backfires through exhaust
 

My kohler is missing and backfiring through the exhaust. Any info what it might be?

Ignition problem, stuck valves, bad carb, bad spark plugs, bad gas, dirty air filter, poor compression, broken rod and probably more. More info would help us narrow it down. :bigthink:

Compression 75 on one 85 on the other. lack of power at any rpm. Bogs when mower engaged. Even at full throttle doesn't rev to max rpm. The real problem seems to be the miss.

I've never owned one but I think that engine has points? If it does, check the gap/condition of them.
