My last tractor

I swear this will be my last purchase. It's a 126 in decent shape, Needs a clutch for deck to work. It's 15 miles from my house, I will pick it up in the morning. The only reason I bought it, is because it's on the rare list? Why is that?

It's on the rare list, because they didn't make very many...... not sure if that's confusing or what?

Very nice machine!
I'd swap those rear tires though....

Looks decent. They made a lot of its hydro brothers but not many gear drive 12s. Not sure why but......wait for it......."it is what it is":biggrin2:

Thanks Allen,
Why do people have to make smart a%% remarks? I only wanted an answer to a question? So, I assume weren't many made? This one does have some cosmetic issues with the hood.

There were only a little over 5,000 made , the limited production number makes it rare.

I know! I think the obvious answer of "they only made a small number" is pretty obtuse. I would think what Mr. Ambrola was looking for, and seemingly, an answer unknowst to certain alleged Cub Cadet experts is "why"?

Was the gear drive supposed to be a short term precursor on wide frames to the hydros? Was a company descison made to limit gear drive as a marketing strategy to push it's more marketable and differentiating hydro line? Was there a production shortage of those transmissions causing the shift? Did they run out of freaking gear shifter knobs?

That is what is being asked for.

Has anyone ever compiled a list of hydro vs gear drive production numbers to see at what point in time hydros essentially took control of the market? One would assume that the consumer dictated what was built by demand, :bigthink:
