Seal leak info

Does anyone know the part number for the bearing block seal. I have the part number for the circular seals however I need info on the square bearing block seals attached in the photo. Any help is appreciated..

It would be really cool if we knew what you're working on.

Looks like he is working on a 3000 series rear.

Affsoc, I don't see that part on the parts look up. Are yours damaged? I reused mine when I rebuilt the one on my 3165. If it is damaged you'll probably have to purchase the complete block.

As Sam says, possibly you know what you are working on, but we don't.
I'm gonna guess it is a klub kadit, or you would of posted on another forum ---------(maybe)
but then I've been wrong a time or two.
My wife loves me to remind me of that and will remember it for years.:biggrin2:

You could do as a lot or people do, go to www.partstree.com and type in your
Make & model number in the appropriate lines and walla,
a parts breakdown will appear with part numbers.
Now if by some chance you are looking for parts for a 1918 Saxon Roadster your luck will not be so good. :bigthink:

3186 square seal replacement

2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I took apart the cub cadet 3186 as i was having the dreaded axle seal leak on the right side. Attached you will find the dissambled trans. Now comes the hard part. I have the round axle seal part numbers, however i do not have the square bearing block seal part number. Is anyone fimialr with these square seals. I dont want to buy and replace the bearing block as the bearings are both in good shape. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Send a PM to "Oak" he's our resident 3000 series guy.

hey guys,
my apologies this is for a 3186 cub cadet. I am very familiar with the partstree breakdown which is great by the way. However this specific part is not called out as an individual part. The circular shaft seals are not as well, but I was able to get that information elsewhere. The square bearing block seal in question is what I would need information on. This issue arose when I was getting a leak from the transmission. Step one I replaced the differential case gasket, and that didn't fix the problem. Step two, was that I completed disassembled the trans and found that the right side axle had oil in it which means that oil was able to pass by either the square seal or the circular axle seal. I figured that if im in the axle now doing all this work and I don't replace the square seals on the differential bearing blocks and that I replace all the other circular shaft seals, then what if oil starts to leak again(don't want to do this work twice if at all possible). I rather replace everything at this point, but without spending the ~$40 price tag for new bearing blocks which are currently degreased and repacked. Id hate to spend 80 bucks for two simple square seals. Any input is appreciated.

You had 2 threads going about the same issue, I merged them.

Looks like they want you to buy the bearings just to get the seals.

Just my 2 cents but I'd use some Ultra Black on your seals as long as they are not torn.

Affsoc2586 06-30-2016 02:24 PM

does anyone else have some input. Im not sure if just sealing around the square seal will be enough, I mean along with replacing all of the other circular shaft seals, which I just ordered today through motion.
