Which one would you keep ????
2 Attachment(s)
Dad has a 129 and a 122. He wants to sell them both, but may wind up keeping whichever one doesn't sell. Both are in pretty good shape, ready to mow. Got a guy coming tomorrow to look at the 129, but he would rather have a gear drive. So I could push him towards the 122.
Both machines have headlights, the 122 has a creeper drive. The 129 may be a little more solid, the deck on the 122 needs leveling. Which one would you rather keep----the only thing we would use either for is cutting grass, no gardening or pushing/blowing snow. |
If all you use them for is mowing, I'd keep the hydro. I prefer to mow with a hydro.
I know it's not the topic, but I prefer Hydro for blowing snow, and mowing. Outside of that, I'd rather use a gear drive. |
I think the decision will be made for you by the buyer. He is going to choose which cub he wants to purchase. If you only offer him one and he wants the other one, then you could blow the deal!
However, if both were offered to me, I would choose the 122. Really just comes down to personal preference.....and I tend to favor hydrostats over gear drives. Cub Cadet 123 |
It really depends on your mowing needs.
If you're mowing a large open area or a hilly area, a gear drive would probably be much easier on the operator. If you're mowing in tight areas and around a lot of obstacles a hydro might be what you need. |

But I'd be tempted to keep them both! But I think I have a Cub problem!!:biggrin2::biggrin2: |
Keep both. If not possible keep the hydro

Keep the 122,
I have a hat. |
I love narrow frames, but the convenience of the quick attach would sway me toward the 129.

Well, the 129 is gone. It was a more solid machine I think than the 122. The 122 needs some minor tinkering before I try to sell it anyway. On the bright side, the fellow that bought it plans on cutting his grass with it. No sitting around under a shed to plow 1/4 acre garden twice a year or towing a lawn cart for it. He's got 3 acres he wants to mow. He is new to Cadets but had been doing a lot of homework. Told him about the forum, hopefully he will join. Nice fellow that I feel will properly care for the machine.:beerchug:
I hated to see it go, but we've got roughly 2 dozen other pcs of equipment to maintain and buy batteries for. |
