Tire Question

My 109 has 23x8.50x12 tires mounted on the factory 7in. rims which are rotten. Found a pair of 10.50s but will they work on my rims ? Will there be a clearence problem etc?

Iposted this same question on another site today but no body gives me a straight answer.

Hey Ga.Cubby!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!!

Will to begin with, installing a 10.50 inch wide tire on a 7 inch wheel might work, but one thing you will notice is that the tire will "Balloon up" due to not having enough width on the wheel for the tire to stretch to the sides. I would recommend a pair of 8.50 wheels or even a 10.50 wheel. The 10.50 wheels are little hard to find but I know a guy who might have them. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get in contact with him. As for the clearance. That will depend where the wheel hub is placed on your 7 inch wheels. If the wheel hub is placed on the Heavy Off Set side, then there shouldn't be any problem. But if it's placed at a Zero Off Set or meaning right in the center of the wheel, then there might be a little problem there. Hope this helps??? Take care good buddy!!!!

Here's a pic of my wheel. The wheel hub is placed on the Heavy Offset Side.

That answers my question. Will keep hunting 8.50s.

I have 10/50 tires on my 102 on 7inch rims with no clearence problems,I had 8/50 on it to start. I did get 1/4 inch spacers:Cub3:: for winter with chains for added clearence, I love how the new tires fit and work. JMD
