Cub 127 belt install

So dumb question but tonight while mowing with my 127 the pto belt came off. What is the easiest way to reinstall it? I had to take the nut off the front off the mule drive that pulls the pulley towards the front and use a pry bar on the other pulley that is attached to the mule drive with the spring. Am I missing something easier? Thanks

Sounds like belt is not the right one, should only need to back off adjusting nut and start around pulley's and it should climb back on while pulling belt around with hand, that's my experience with them.

In 45 years of running my 127(s) the only thing I ever had to loosen or disconnect is the pto button actuating rod in order to get space for the belt replacement. I have never had to loosen up anything anywhere else.

Sounds like I have the wrong belt. With the belt tensioned there are prob only 3/8" of threads on the adjuster bolt showing.

??? Show a pic of your mule drive.

Did you recently replace the belt? Recently get the tractor?..... :Unknown:

Just bought the tractor last summer. The belt looks new.

I'm not saying that it can't be the wrong belt, but if it ran all last year with it..... What do you think?

How about some pics of you mule drive and your attempt to put it on....

Ok so tonight the belt came off again and I put it back on and tightened it a lil more than I did last night. It again took pry bars to get the belt on. Within a 100ft of mowing the belt shredded. I should clarify that I bought the mower towards the end of the summer and only cut dry grass as opposed to this year when the grass is growing like crazy and wet. Would this make a difference? And do u guys know off hand what replacement belt I need? Thanks for all the help.
