Howdy all! New to the site.

Just picked up a 1981 IH 982. It has front hydro, turning brakes, 3-point, and rear PTO for $135. Some fellow dropped it off at a repair house and never picked it up. The owner of the shop only wanted what he had in it. Hurray for me!!

I actually drove it up on the trailer! Got it home, replaced the fuel pump and cleaned the carb (didn't have a carb kit, so just blew it out). After priming the carb, she fired right up. It surges a bit now and I have to pull the choke out to get it to idle right, but it runs and everything on it works!

I'm not real familiar with the Onan/Walbro combo, any thoughts on getting the idle to smooth out? I did look at a carb kit and suffered sticker shock! Any thoughts on the Nikki carb replacement? Will the 146-0414 Nikki carb work? I haven't seen much yet on cross reference parts.

Thanks in advance for your help!
