1572 wont stop. Damper Spring?
Having an issue with my 1572 not stopping or going into reverse. When I first got the mower about a year ago the forward/reverse lever only went forward 3/4 of the way. No big deal as I just used it to cut grass an had no need to go that fast. Well the last time I went to cut grass it was fine for a few minuets and then wouldn't stop or go into reverse. After inspection and research I found the spring in the damper plate went missing? Is this an available part? Any information would be helpful. I'll post some pictures in case anyone sees anything else that may have went missing.

Get both plates new along with both springs, two new pin guides , and new snap rings. You'll be amazed how much better it works. The pin on the damper plate is half gone.:OMG:

Yea I saw that when I first got it and didn't feel like taking everything apart till it was necessary, like now. Thanks I found a partstree list and put some parts on a list to order thanks for your help. Going to order some rear end braces for it and a new rear end cover seal while I'm back there. Just got done doing the starter upgrade and debating on a glowplug upgrade. Injectors may need a rebuild as well. I have only had it a year and have done little odds and ends tweaks to it. Works great and will be buried with this thing!

I FINALLY got all the parts and got everything put back together and it worked great! But only for about 4 cuts. And the spring popped out again. I dunno how it popped out is there some way I can hold it in place with a zip tie without it interfering with the forward controls? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Now I'm gonna go and reorder some parts...

Did you put a new PLATE ASSY-DAMPER in (#1 in the1572 transmission control section on the Cub Cadet website parts look up)? Mine had slop in the hole where it swivels and would shift sideways to allow the springs to come out. They are pricey but you'll probably never have to put them in again. Also, show a pictures of you SHAFT-TRON part #45. That needs to be nearly perfectly square and centered in the Plate Damper or you can loose springs. This is a far as my limited knowledge and skills can help you. I am sure others will belong to add to this.

Ya I was thinking about that. The first link you posted. Is that plate pressed on or no I couldn't get it to budge and really don't want to drop the rearended if I don't absolutely have too. I couldn't find that part on parts tree to order it but everything else was replaced. Thank you for the reply.

The piece that curls up the side of the pump and then flattens out with the square opening is permanently attached to the pump shaft. Can you show a picture of yours? There is a repair kit available. A new pump shaft from Cub quite expensive. It requires tear down of the pump to replace.
