1650 trunion repair
3 Attachment(s)
I can see this topic has been beat like a dead horse. I just picked up a 1650 and I have been experiencing a sluggish hydro going up hill and a runaway going on flat land. After tearing it apart in pretty sure thats why the owner sold it. First i changed the hytran and filter. During that process i see the previous owners idea of a repair. And to be fair, this may have not been too bad if he had used shim washers to remove the slop in the plates. I decided to remove his repairs and weld up the trunion properly and file down to size. It needed all 4 corners and the rear and left sides completely built up. Now it is filed to perfect dimensions so i am waiting for new springs, guides, shims, and snap rings fron ccspecialties. And to think, i learned all of this from simply searching the archives of this page. I appreciate all of the knowledge that you guys share, i have learned a lot over the years but still learn more every day.
I need to update my signature, a lot has changed since then. |

Now you see how handy a little MIG can be
Time for the welder prayer... May my wire be clean, My rig be ready, My tungsten be sharp, My hand be ready, Make the next weld I make be my very best and Lord please let me pass the welding test. Amen |
Nice repair on the trunion
Did you also work on that cam plate? I haven't seen one worn into the cam plate slot like that. I'm talking about across the top of the spring. You will be amazed when you get it right. I have done both my 1450 and 1650. The 1650 I even took the pain to weld up and reshape the cam follower pin to remove the slop. You would not believe what little slop in the linkages and cam mechanism makes. Good luck keep us posted.

Yes i will be repairing all plates and linkages as i assemble it. I have noticed many worn parts.

I have a similar problem with my 1650, and thanks to you I now have a place to start looking.
