It's a very sad and scary world out there.. the government, unions, OSHA, and the EPA have killed American manufacturing.... the very industry that made the USA great in the first place!! :American Flag 1:

I worked for a medium sized manufacturer in upstate NY for about 7 years. I just heard the state of NY is mandating a raise of minimum pay to $15/hour. I don't think the company will be able to continue to manufacture product here in the US, or at least not in NY. There's about 150 people working there which means an extra $1,500,000/year in pure payroll alone, plus increased taxes and workers comp and everything else that goes along with those payrolls. I believe that will put the company in the negative. Prices cannot be sufficiently raised to compensate because of cheap product coming in from China, they're having a hard time competing as it is. I imagine there's a lot of businesses out there in the same situation, especially small and medium ones.

I know a guy who has been NAFTA'd 3 times-Scholastic books, Arrow remanufacturing and latest was Skil tools. He's 54 and looking for a job, college educated+30 yrs experience.....education is NOT the answer evidently when everything is moving to Mexico....
My dad lives overseas, his rent and utilites cost him $100/month, he says you cannot afford to retire here.

I've watched the "We can raise taxes and impose more regulations on them, they will never leave" since the 60's in CT. Well guess what they are leaving CT in droves. Danny Boy Malloy the king of increase taxes just got a reality check and is now starting to lay off some of the state employees. Of course he is starting with the Dept of Corrections. They always threaten the departments that actually due something rather than the areas that could be closed and never missed. That way when the residents scream it makes another tax increase easy to pass. Oh well I'm out of CT. Last one out turn off the lights.

Edit: His latest major concern is transgendered bathrooms.
