Bought a weird 169 - anyone know what this is?
 

I picked up a used 169 from a member on another site. It is odd that it is a manual lift (seller provided hydro lift from a 1450 and a sleeve hitch...) and it had some odd looking brackets welded to the front of the frame. Anyone have any idea (or guess) what the brackets were/are for? The seller suggested that he thought the weld job was too good to be home brew and thought they might have been some sort of dealer option.

I checked the serial plate on the frame and it is a 169 and the location of the plate is consistent with the serial # of the tractor - so it is for sure (as much as one could verify) a 169.

Thanks for any input. I've gone from quitelines to a 169 in less than 2 weeks - I'm bite by the Cub bug ;)

During the 169 production, they ran out of some of the parts for the hydraulic lift, so they were sent out with manual lift instead. The ones with manual lift were supposed to be taken back to the dealer later and have the hydraulic lift installed. There were quite a few that were never taken back so that's why yours doesn't have it. As far as the brackets on the front, I can assure you that they are not factory. That was a PO mod.

Congratulations on the 169. I agree with ajgross, someone added those brackets on the front.

Maybe some sort of a home made weight bracket went on there. :bigthink:

My gues is the brackets welded on the front are for a snow blade to be attached.

Looks like to me some sort of quick attach with 2 pins on the inside for mount and the fork part as the up/down, kinda like my 72.:TwoCents:

I'd have to agree that those are not factory. They look to me to be rough flame cuts welded on by a first time Lincoln stick welder user. As to what they are for, I'd guess a modified front blade mount of some sort.

The rest of the tractor looks real good. I'd say you've got a good find there!
