Is it worth my time?

Hi folks. Frequent lurker, seldom poster. I was given a CC127 a couple of years ago from a friend. Was put away unloved by the friend 10 years earlier , and then dumped in my garage. With a little kindness and a carb clean and rebuild, she came to life. Has some trouble staying running, but still I was impressed. I had visions! I really did. Now I wondering if it is worth the investment of time and money. Has an electric lift and sleeve hitch ( the good) and the usuall missing grill, one headlight, needs seat, wiring must be replaced (the bad). What do you think? The misses bought a used JD LX277 for lawn mowing, but it is not tough like this guy. Would like to use it for ground work and such, plus I just like to tinker. Thanks Rick

if it runs and drives currently it sounds like it defiantly worth the time. you don't have to jump in head first. one thing at a time if you just wanta tinker away at it. oh yeah welcome to OCC and :WWP:

IMHO....the 127 will work circles around that JD, blind folded and with only 3 tires.....:biggrin2:

Thanks Guys. The feeling between the two tractors is night and day. The CC gives me the feeling of ALMOST being a farmer, being on the JD makes me feel like every other 9 to 5'er mowing their lawn. I am thinking of a complete fluid change and a new wire harness to start. Is that a good way to ease in? Not looking for a museum quality restoration, but do want to make her look pretty for the neighbors.

Welcome. It is amazing what a couple of cans of rattle can paint will do. Clean and paint the rims, some paint on the frame and hood and from a distance it will look like a new tractor.

Definately keep it. Work on it a little at a time as others have said. Contact member mlamar for his wiring harness. Excellent price and quality. Good luck. Pics always welcome

Hey Rick, Welcome to OCC, it's good to see a Maine-e-ac on here. You know what they call us down here!

From an entertainment stand point, definitely.

Educational, sure.

What else do you need?

Sell the POS deere and use the $$ for parts for the 127.

Even if you spend 1000 to 1500 on it you have a great tractor for half price of what a piece of junk costs new nowdays.. Just go at it one piece at a time and have fun!!:beerchug:
