Narrow frame creeper gear question
I restored a 102 and got a tiller for it. It goes entirely too fast to till in 1st gear. I was wondering when I purchase a creeper gear, what all I really need to get to go with it? I either have to shorten my drive shaft, or buy a drive shaft that's cut at the right length correct? Is that basically it?

That's all there is to it, be sure to get the splined coupler with the creeper.

Depending on your model, you may need the extension for the handle and a 3/8" pipe nipple and coupling to extend the breather above the tunnel.
The one in the picture is for a short tunnel tractor, (70/100 and the other 7 hp tractors). I believe the rest of the Narrow Frame tractors all had the tall tunnel. Oh Crap, I just re read your first post... Your 102 will need the handle extension, pipe nipple and coupling. |
This one is going to go on a 102 which it says with this handle would fit it just making sure that's everything I need so if there's anything else I need to order I can get it coming at the same time. It's from ccspecialties also

That is a Narrow Frame creeper, but for your 102 you will need part numbers 25, 26 and 27 from the exploded view.

The ad does say it will fit, maybe the handle is long enough.

The handle doesn't look long enough for a 102, my 122 had the handle extension as well as the extension for the breather. As for installation I find the easiest way to do it is to remove the engine and disassemble the clutch and the roll the rearend out from under the tractor with the driveshaft still attached, once it's out you can mount the creeper and the shorter driveshaft and the put it back together. It's possible to install the creeper with the rearend still in but it's a huge pita and by the time your done you'll want to light it on fire.

yeah i got ahold them and said they would send the extensions for free... and the best part about all this is i just got done painting this tractor just in time to scratch it all up putting this in lol. i think im just gonna slide the engine forward and slip the clutch out and roll the axle back seems like the easiest way
