2130 Right Side Tie Rod

Hi Fellas,

We got the first mowing of spring done and on the final pass to head into the shed my steering stopped working. I noticed my right wheel was stuck in the same position and wouldn't move with the steering wheel. I remembered when Allen had this problem quite a few years ago with Dually and it was a broke tie rod. So that was what I checked on my 2130 and noticed that the rod had come off of the part where it attaches to the wheel thingy. Nothing appears "broke" just popped off. I was able to "pop" it back on several times in order to get it back into the shed but it isn't staying attached. My manual doesn't really address this matter so it is useless. I know that you fellas have always been extremely helpful with Allen so can you help me out too? I have attached pics showing where it has come "un-attached". It doesn't appear that I can just put a nut on it. The nuts that are on it are still tight so I am unsure what to do.

Thanks!

Off the top of my head you'll need a 1/2", a 9/16" wrench and a pair of vise grips for tools. Hold the part in red and remove the part in green on the upper steering arm. Put the Vise Grips on the part in Red and loosen the lock nut in Green on the tie rod. Then unscrew what's left of the tie rod end from the tie rod. They can be a PITA to get off. Good chance if one is bad the other 3 are soon to follow.

Not yet, Sam. Jenn has been under the weather. If she's feeling better, we'll get it fixed this weekend.

Well, my part finally came in and I got it put on my 2130 tonight. It works great! Thanks so much for everyone's help. It was very helpful to make this an easy experience. It was even better that I only paid $1.06 for the part. Love my $5 off coupon.:biggrin2:
