Stock rod hp

How much HP will a stock rod take in a k341. Also whilw on this subject. What is the stock hp # for a k361 rod. So far I have a decent amount of hours on a built k301 that is approximately around 18-19 hp. I'm building a k341 that I would like to increase to 20hp or so. Best way to get there I can imagine would be to deck the head a tad (.030-.040) and work on getting air in and out by doing the same type or port and valve work as I did with the k301. Also a cam upgrade is in the budget as well. Most likely a kerber gov1.

RPM is going to be the limiting factor. If it's stock RPM I don't think you can make enough power with the mods you listed to worry about the rod.

Where are you getting your HP numbers by the way? Are you dyno testing?

I am hopefully getting an old dyno from the fsae shop I work at. Used to dyno atv and dirt bike engines. As for the k301 I built it almost identical to David kirks engine but went more on the porting polishing and valve work. He was getting 18 so I assume it's in the neighborhood of 18. It certainly works likes it an 18. Compared to my stock 147 or even the stock 1650 they seem to lack the grunt the 127 has with the modified k301. All my engines never see higher then stock rpm. I'm building this engine for a friend and he wants the 16 to be around 20. So I told him a cam upgrade, some good port and valve work and a bump in Compression will get him there.

The stock port will out flow the valve at stock RPM. Port work isn't going to help you make much HP. Depending on what cam you are using in the 301 I'd be very surprised if it were much more than 15 or 16.

However a 16 with a Kerber cam should make very close to 20.
