Cyclops model info

Hey guys, just curious if someone could give me a rundown of the various Cyclops garden tractor and super garden tractor models with some of the differences. I picked up a 1641 today for a parts tractor, and I've been confused lately with all the different numbers of the Cyclops series. The numbers don't seem to make as much sense as some of the older models. Although not all of the older model numbers make sense either (like where did the 1282 come from??). More specifically, I'm trying to figure out where the 1641 fits in with the 1440 and the 1862, 63, and 64. Also, what are the differences between those models? And yes, I've looked at TractorData.com, but there's not a lot of info there on these models.

The 1641 was built from 1992-1997 with a vanguard 16hp... the 1440 was built the same years with a 14hp vanguard..
1862.. built 90-92 with kohler magnum twin 18 and power steering ...
1863 built 93-97 with hydro gear transmission and 18 hp Kohler command.. 1864 also 93-97 but with sunstrand hydro transmission and power stg and 18hp kohler command..

It does get confusing... Oscar Hank Wills book 50 years of Cub Cadet breaks them all down very well.. I highly recommend it..

I was new to the Cyclops series last year but have really grown to like them..:beerchug:

Ok thanks! Now it's making more sense. So the "1" in 1641 must be indicating hydraulic lift, which the 1440 didn't have. What does the 3rd digit indicate? Like 1641 vs. 1861? Obviously the first two digits are the horsepower, and the 4th digit seems to indicate options, like hydraulic lift, power steering, etc.

Check this thread out John: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...highlight=1863

I believe, from pics I've seen, some of the 1641 models use the same hydro as the 1863. I deduce this from the manual hydro release valve in the drive shaft cover.

The 1864 does not have the manual hydro release but, has power steering.

The Owners Manual that came with the 1863 I have states the hydrostatic relief valve only comes on an 1861, but there is one on the 1863.

I suspect some of the variances in builds had a lot to do with part availability during manufacturing.

And do not forget the 1340, 1535, and 1541. 1440. Not all 1641's are manual lift either. Some have the hydraulic option. Didn't someone post a pic of a 1541 with dual hydraulics ( front remotes and hydraulic lift) recently?

1860, 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864.

Then on into the supers:

1782 - the only diesel cyclops I think.
1882

2082, 2084, 2284.
2182, & 2086.

There is a service manual that covers all of the above models. Me gots it....

One other option is to spend a couple of hours on Partstree.com just looking at the diagrams. I cannot remember ever finding an error in the diagrams. As far as I know all the 1641's have the hydraulic lift.

I'm not really sure about the third digit.... but I am new to the Cyclops scene and still learning.. I would be interested to know though if anyone else has any info:bigthink:

You need to get yourself some reading material.
