Cub Cadet 1000 need advice

Hey All
I'll give you all the info i have as of now would like your input.
I have a friend that has a Cub 1000 he is looking to sell in the near future this is all i know as of right now as i just found out today late....
Cub 1000 don't know year or hours i do know the rear was replaced with a used one some time back it has a new or little used mower deck not sure of size. I do know it has a front end bucket again not sure if made or a factory attachment.
That is is till i go and see it this weekend.
What i am asking of you guys is what if anything should i look for? do they have a common problem? and assuming all the hyd and bucket work properly what would be a good offer for this?
As i said it is owned by a friend i'm not looking to steal it from anyone but i would like to be fair with my offer.
I do know that it was bought to clean out horse stables and i was also told without rear weight of some type it can be a dangerous piece of equipment as to tipping and loss of brakes with rear being light.
Anyway trying to help a friend and be fair could someone give me a high and low price of what they are worth?
Thank you when i get to see it i will post pictures
Thanks
Tony

Tony, it is good to see someone wanting to be totally fair in their dealings with other and not want to take advantage of anyone, but without pictures, it is very difficult to ascertain a fair value for you and your friend. The cub cadet 1000 is a QL tractor, so the iso mounts are the weak point on these cubs, if they go bad then the drive line can be compromised (check the rag joints on the end of the driveshaft for these). The iso mounts are located where the engine attaches to the cradle, look for them to be disfigured. It would seem that a hydraulic bucket would not be best suited for a non-hydrostatic (ported) cub cadet, but it is possible with an auxiliary pump. So, a running 1000 should be worth around $200-$350 in decent shape. The hydraulic pump is worth anywhere from $200-$400 and the bucket, is worth anywhere from $400-$1000, depending on manufacturer or homemade, size, condition, etc....These are VERY ROUGH estimates from just one person. Others will chime in and give you better estimates than I have. On the low end, then I would say $800-$1750.

This thread probably belongs in the What's It Worth section of the forum, but what the hey....

If it was me, I would ask my buddy to get me some pics or go and take them myself, post them and get some better estimates. Then, take your computer to him and show him the estimates that you obtained and explain to him that you want to be fair with him so that both of you reach an amicable agreement on price.

Again, it is very noble of you to seek a way to be fair with others. Nice job!

Thank you Cub Cadet 123 for the kind words and estimates and if this post belongs somewhere else please move as needed was not aware of that section.
As i said i want to be fair he is a good friend for a long time and wouldn't ruin it over a piece of equipment.
he being honest with me as well he did tell me his father-in-law did knock the pump off and the mounting bracket was repaired with welding he did himself and i trust it is right cause i have trusted my life with his welds in the past.
his father-in-law had to be sent to a home as he has cancer and no long term disability insurance so this is the reason for sale.
I will get pictures and better idea of the condition as soon as i can i was just looking for some type of figure to have in my mind when i go.
Honestly i don't need another tractor around but i didn't what to see him get taken or see it go to a consignment sale and not get all he can for it and hey you never know when you could use a small bucket around the house too.
I'm sure with the hyds you could do more with it too
Thanks
Tony
