Mystery Tractor

I was looking on ebay and I saw this tractor. The tractor says 580 on the side but it can't be a 580 because it is a hydro. I then noticed that it has an IH logo on the front. Could it be possible it was a red 82 series tractor? If I were able to get the serial number from the seller, could the model and color be identified. I'm looking for a red 82 series and this one is pretty close to me. Any ideas :bigthink:.

I'm guessing 682 because of the engine mounting plate.

It is the same as the 582 Special (red) or 580 (yellow)

But the 582 was a 4 speed, that does not explain the hydro.

Could be a 682, some put a different hood on?

Thanks for the replies. I never even thought about the engine mounting plate.

More than likely it was a 1710. Could be a 682. Looks like it was several tractors into one. It's a "nothing" right now, but could be several models depending how you put it back together. :biggrin2:

So it is so pieced together that I could paint it red and call it a 682 and no one would care?

I don't think anyone would care... not as long as your not trying to pass it off as a genuine 682. I'd get the numbers off the tag and see what it started it's life as. :beerchug:
