1772 ..New fuel pump.. hard cold start?

I just installed a new Kubota fuel pump on my 1772. Now the tractor is very hard to start when its been setting. Once it does start and warms up, you can turn it off and it will re-start easily. Before old fuel pump crapped out, it always started fine.

Any idea what is up?

Bad spark plugs. :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

Are the glow plugs working? Before you say yes, are you sure? Are they getting 12V? :bigthink:

Do you have a fuel restriction? Are you sure? :bigthink:

All possibilities, except the spark plugs! :biggrin2: Did you bleed the injectors?

Wow...Thanks for the suggestion...I think I just found the problem. I had checked fuel delivery when I installed the new pump and it was good.

I did the glow plug upgrade a year or two ago. I just checked voltage and have 12.6 volts on the battery side of the solenoid, but only 4 to 5 volts on the load/glow plug side. I ran a jumper across the solenoid terminals to get the full voltage to the glow plugs and she started right up!!!

Dont think I have ever seen a low voltage situation on a solenoid. .. thought it either worked or not. Guess its time for another new solenoid.

Thanks for the info!!! :beer2:

There is a big contact plate in the solenoid. It can arc on it, making the contact point have a poor connection. Seen it many times. Glad you got it!! :beerchug:

I see the "almost new" solenoid has a Made in China sticker on it....go figure...
