Cub 71 wiring question.

Got a 2 prong push button and a 2 prong toggle kill switch. Want to use these instead of ignition switch. How do I wire to start? From the harness I have a orange w black stipe and orange a black and a gray one, and a large diameter red one. I think the gray goes to top post on solenoid and the large red goes to bottom post on solenoid.the 2 orange are for the safety switch which I do not have. Need to know how to wire to solenoid and to push button and toggle please.
Thank u.

Go in the tech section here on the site and download the service manual. There is a wiring diagram in it to help you sort it out

Got wiring diagrams. But that's for the correct way with a ignition switch. I'm no electrician, for sure lol.

Ok take your constant hot wire run it into the toggle switch. From there you need one hot wire to go to the coil. Also take a wire from the output of the toggle to the push button. From there to small prong on the solinoid
If wired this way the tractor will not crank over with the switch turned off.

Im at work so i cant look at the diagram to tell you for sure which wire does what.

Why do you want to do this?

Don't have an ignition switch right now. just want to get tractor running to check everything out before I tear down and restore it.

You could make a very simple jumper harness just to see how it runs. Take a positive wire from the positive side of the battery. And hook that to your toggle and push button. Run the other wire from the toggle to the coil. Then run the wire from your push button to small prong on the solenoid. That way you wont have to mangle the stock harness or make any permanent changes to the machine. ( you can also do this without the button or switch). Where in Illinois are you? I may have a ignition switch I can loan.

Wiring harness is mangled anyhow. I live 20 miles north of Danville, Illinois.
