Here's a picture of a 124:

Also, a 104 is the same as a 124, except for engine:

And a 105 and a 125 would be similar, except for engine (105) and hydrostatic transmission:

Here is my 124. One of my favorite models.

thanks fellas,

i've tried to find the serial number #287650 in the archives. probably don't know where to look right. engine K301A serial#47376b. both sets of tags are "unpainted" leading me to suspect that they are original. the tractor doesn't quite match the pics. ie. no headlights-flat panel in their place.

i was told it's a 124. pretty good metal, good paint, and little to no rust. came with a deck that's got new belts. "the motor "clanked" real loud and won't turn over" the PO says. if you can help me with the numbers, i'd appreciate it.

according to IH, it was made in feb 69'. And the engine serial # is correct. Yep, it's a late 124.
Great machine, as was mentioned.
If it doesn't start, and it's clanking on turn over, the rods broken...most likely.
Not really a big deal.....depends on what got damaged internally when it broke.
I've opened up engines like that, with no damage aside from the rod....it's a gamble, but if the tractors nice, an engine is a 1/2 hour swap.
