4 Axle Disc

I didn't actually make everything of course, but I did hand build the frame and 3-point hookup for it. I used the disc axles and blades from two Brinley discs.

Looks great! More pics!!!

Looks good, but the front gangs need to meet in the center and the gap should be wide in the center of the rear gangs. If not, it won't fill the dead furrows or work correctly. Sorry to be the "bad news guy" but it's not set up correctly.

Well I haven't tried it yet, the ground is too wet...
I had to use two different size gangs, the rear is from a bigger disc than the front. One of the reasons I posted it was to get feedback on the setup. I've never used a disc. I'll hopefully get a chance to try it out when I get home from work.

The rear should have one more blade per gang than the front and the outermost blade about half the diameter. But, equal blades front and back will work. Think about it like this: each blade in front makes a furrow, then each blade on the rear reverses the direction the dirt is rolled and fills in the furrow.

The angle of the "V" also isn't steep enough. The problem with the these small disk blades is they dish a little too much for no larger than they are. To do a good job the smallest usable blade is 12". I believe the Briny disks are 9".

Just my :TwoCents: bu to me it looks like if he moved the front gangs in a bit and moved the rear gangs out a bit it would work a little better. Granted these smaller GT discs aren't the greatest in the world but they do a fine job when set up right.

AC_CC-1872 08-13-2015 01:19 PM

The front blades are 10 1/2" and the back ones are 11 1/2".
The angle is set up exactly as the frame they came off of.
I've been looking for a set of gangs to match the rear, but no luck so far.
Thanks for the comments. I'll move the rear gangs out as mush as I can.

I understand that the angle is probably the same as what it was originally, but that's my point. Brinly didn't build them with enough angle, which is part of the reason that they don't cut well. Since you went to the effort to build the disk, it's worth it to get it set up correctly.

Edit: Sorry, I don't mean for that to sound harsh, just trying to help.
