uh oh... hydro leak

Haven't found it yet.. but I pulled the deck this week and replaced the blades.. that was an adventure... I don't have an angle grinder.. I had to grind down the last remaining home made "baffle" so the blades would fit properly... pulled her out of the garage, mowed... and this evening (after the fun with the fuel).. I noticed some hydro fluid on the floor... about a silver dollars worth... I'm hoping it's just a gasket or something.. but what should I be watching out for... dear lord let the hydro NOT be going out... when I pulled the plug today during the fuel fun.. I noted that after about 45 minutes of run time that the plug was already coated in carbon.. which I figure means I'm likely for a powerplant rebuild in the not to awful distant future... sure don't want a hydro replacement... thanks in advance...

Your carboned up lug is a sign it is running rich.. Asd far as the leak goes, park it on a big piece of paper and note the spot it's dripping from..

This is a common place where a Hydro Leak occurs.....

Thanks, that looks like the right area. I'll look under her today and see how bad it is overnight. She's got more work to do today.

I think my 169 is leaking in that area. How hard is it to replace this gasket?

Yep, looks like it's leaking there and at the rear end seal. If I'm pulling those items what should I do/service while I'm in there? Where can I get those gaskets (I guess both sides of rear end)? How big of a deal is replacing that gasket?

thanks

The Gasket is available from your local CC or Case-IH dealer(s). If that is not convenient, then the Sponsors at the top of the page would be more than glad to help you.

When replacing the gasket, plan on a afternoon of time.
