1650 hyrdo control adjustments
I have tried before to adjust this on my 1250, but always seem to make it worse. Any tips on how to make it work better than my previous attempts?
She will not come all the way out of forward, just to a very slow crawl. same for reverse. again just a very slow crawl.. She doesn't seem to go in neutral by the clutch pedal. I physically have to put her there. Is this normal?? Would this be the slider adjustment on the hydro pump? And would that be an up or down adjustment? Second, about the hydro lift.. I have a 44" under her.. The lift doesn't seem like it picks the deck up as much as I think it should.. the driver side does not leave the ground,(even with the little bracket fully adjusted) The shoot side, it comes up about 3-4 inches or so. On the manual lift it worked fine.. the whole deck came up about five inches or so. Any ideas?? Thanks, |

Check to see if you have a broken spirol pin. See attachment :IH Trusted Hand: |
I would address the forward and reverse problem first
Have you changed the filter and fluid? Do that then if it still won't go take the tunnel cover off and see if the linkage is moving the trunion plate properly Is the hydro making noise? |
I need to check on the pin, didn't even think of that. The hydro makes very little noise.. a little bit of whine. But compared to my 1250 it is quite. It does seem to work well. Not as fast as the 1250. Just the return does not seem to do as well. Thank you guys, I will have to check out that pin.

The up and down slider thing, will give you more of one and less of the other (depending on which way you move it).
Sounds like The pins on Part #7 and the slots in parts #6 & 7 are worn. You may get by with adjusting #14 & 15 (keep in mind that a little goes a long way) remember to count your revolutions in case you want/need to put it back like it was. http://www.partstree.com/parts/cub-c...sion-controls/ Check to make sure the "fork" on the sub-frame is properly positioned around the "footrest bar" under the tractor. Look at parts #2 & 3 in Rolands exploded view, When lifted all the way up, they should almost touch the steering column cross-member. If they don't (usually the left side #2) then you probably have sheared spiral pin/s somewhere. Remember that the one on the right controls the one on the left, so either pin (or both) could be sheared. Don't attempt to replace them with a substitute pin or bolt of any kind. If those arms (parts #2 & 3) do go all the way up then there are problems elsewhere and may be a little harder to track down. Good luck. |
Well, I looked at the lift arms. The pins are good. On the lift arm, the cylinder has a little bracket. It sat on top of the lift arm, held on by a 1/2" sheer pin. All I did was moved it down to another hole on the lift arm. That seemed to do the trick.. I have full lift now..
As far as the neutral goes, I have still no idea.. I adjusted the last arm to the hydro. (about four turns) She goes forward faster, but lost about half of my reverse speed. I probably will turn it back twice just to go a little faster in reverse. I will get her figured out sooner or later.. Thanks guys. I tried to get pics up, what ever reason they will not load. |
Just sent you an email.
Thanks !! Darrell |
I was having the same problems with my 1650, and after the guys explained it to me it was a easy fix.
I DON'T know how to get a page from one place to another, so you'll have to do it this way. Click on my name, then click on statistics, then threads and go part way down the first page and you'll see a thread entitled, " Help me understand hydro adjustment" the boys explained it there.. Sorry for all the running, but hey.... |
