Category 0 48" tiller

im currently in the works with someone about buying a category 0 48" tiller for my 2072...are there any experts on these tillers? all i know about them is they are 2000RPM, they are heavy, you need a rear PTO (i have one coming), they are heavy, they seem to be harder to come by than the 42" IH tiller....and they are heavy. thats about all i know.

anyone on here can tell me the pros and cons and what to look for on this tiller? from the photos the man sent me...it looks to be in good shape! he bought it from Houtz.

I heard they are heavy. But other than that, they are quite heavy.

Good thing I got heavy things to hang off the front to make it more heavy to pick up the heavy tiller!

Used mine numerous times....Chews up virgin soil like a beast.... nice and smooth when done and best run deep.....Its heavy and a man handler though have at least 100lbs up front...makes steering much easier

I've got one, too. And it is pretty heavy.

I'd buy it if you're in the market. They don't come up for sale too often and can be pricey. Good luck!!

Yellow tillers

The yellow 48" 2000 rpm pto tillers weigh around 450lbs. It is recommended to have 8 42lb suitcase weights on front of the smaller tractors and 7 weights on the larger tractors. You can move them with 4 weights installed, but having all the weights installed up front are definitely a must when tilling. I speak from experience. Make sure you check and change as necessary the oil in the gearbox.

I am thinking about adapting this one to my Super.

I think it would be an easy adapt,,,, all it needs is a belt to spin the pump then it will run,,,

the pump can be mounted anywhere,,,

the hitch will be easy to connect,,, the JD guys love them,,, :bigthink:
