Need help with 122 basket pulley and wiring
hi guys:
I have 2 issues one is my Cub Cadet 122. It keeps throwing the key out of the basket. The key was previously twisted. Is there suppose to be a piece of metal on the basket pulley? Mine is throwing the key out the engine side. Is the wiring just regular wire or is it braided? thanks Thad |
Wow 57 views and not one reply, OCC really is going to Hell.
Not sure what you mean by "a piece of metal on the basket pulley". Basket pulleys are a little temperamental, if the set screws become loose, it doesn't take much to ruin the bore. I guess the first thing to check is the key-ways in the basket and in the crank shaft, If they are wallered, you're going to have a hard time keeping it tight. Then check to see if the basket fits the shaft well. If the keys don't fit well or if the basket is very loose on the shaft, I fear that you will need to repair or replace the worn parts before it will stay put. I'm guessing that you do have set screws in both holes in the basket? IIRC, the wiring on a 122 is braided, but is still much better than the wiring in the 1X6/7 series tractors. |
It is possible that this "piece of metal" may be an anti-rattle clip for the PTO.... but then no can see no can tell for sure! Pictures??
How about some pics of the crank and the keyway? |
I was confused by the original thread and what he is actually talking about. So, I decided to keep quiet.

I think the keyway in the pulley basket and on the crank is wallowed out, then it keeps walking the key because it works itself loose.
