Decisions, Decisions,, Which Machine To Train A SIL With??

My SIL is moving nearby, and I want to let him use one of my machines to mow his new-to-him 3 acre lawn,,,

Up to now, the 28 year old only has mowed with a walk behind lithium battery cordless mower.

Oh, yea, he only drives automatic equipped cars.

He truly is knowledgeable of computers and woodworking, so, he can do it, I am positive.

So, which one do I start with,,, :bigthink:

I am leery of using the 650 JD, the mower only spins when the machine is moving.

The Gravely may be too big, with a 72" cut, to learn on.

The 2284 might be correct, but, still the 60" deck might be kinda big,,,

The other alternative is the 1861,,, let him learn on that, for a while,,,,

So, which machine would you choose??

OR, should I run to Lowes, and pick up a ZT for him?? :biggrin2:

1861 is my vote. :beerchug:

Seems he wants to be green with the electric, maybe you could build him something like this. Riding mower, green, exercise, twice as fast as a standard push mower. Win, win in my book.

I second the 1861 vote. :beerchug:

I agree with the 1861 selection.

1861, but not before he gets to mow it with the push mower first. He will then appreciate the tractor that much more :biggrin2:

The 1861 is in the lead!! I better get the oil changed,,,

The appreciation is the important part,,, he will be mowing in about 2-3 weeks.

It will be fun watching a newbie on 3 acres,,,:biggrin2:

Where is my lounge chair?? :Snooze:

One of the reasons for the move is that he wants to build,,,

I might have to show him how to build a Sam Mac grass killer,,,,, :biggrin2:
