Can you determine model # by serial plate on QL tractors?

Question re. serial #s on the QL tractors. I got bitten by the bug bad this week. Bought a very poor condition 1650 and then a decent 1450. My question is, did IH serialize the individual models? Ie. did 1650s get one range of numbers and 1200s (or whatever...) another? I'm asking as I've got 2 choices, move the engine and wheels from the 1650 to the 1450 and buy an appropriate sticker pack, or do an either restore on the 1650. It’s not that I don't want to do a restore, it would just be pricey. On the other hand, I don't want a counterfeit 1650 either. If the frame serials were recorded I will redo the 1650 entirely. If they the SN plate was just grabbed from a stack that was used for all models I wouldn't feel bad about "making" my own 1650. Thoughts?

Thanks,

-Calvin

EDIT: Just saw a very similar question and I see there is a code on the plate indicating the model type - so, for my reference - is there a list of what is what re. codes indicating the models? Since I bought both tractors used through collectors/resellers guess I should verify the 1650 started out as a a 1650 - it is in rough shape :)

Hi Calvin... That is a looong, long "laundry list", so it's much easier if you just post the Kind/Code/Serial number data from the plate for each tractor you are interested in. One of us with that info will the translate and post the info for you.

Ok I am going to run this by the powers that be. I have been researching and came up with the following about the QL's..It seems the serial numbers may differentiate models (800,1000,1200 etc) by the 6th digit of the serial number. On 2 1200 serial numbers its a 7,on our 800,it appears to be number 2,on my 1000 I am building for my grandson,it is number 5. Am I getting close???I still have 2 1450's numbers to look at as well as another 1200 we have a frame for.

My 1650 has a 6 in the 6th digit slot... I'll look at my 1200 tommorow
