Mower deck frame mounting

Recently got a 149 to try to revive....first cub I owned in 20+ years.
looked underneath and the link on the deck frame that goes over the rod is currently on the rod at the foot rest....I can also see where there is wear on another shaft under the tractor where it once was which I think is the shaft for the lift....
Question is which is the proper place for it.....

Is this what you are looking for..??

Yes....but what rod is that arm with the forked end around.??
I know there is a round rod that is welded under tractor that goes out to the foot rest and also another shaft just a bit higher that I think is part of the lift mechanism.....
Both of them on my tractor shows some wear on them so I am guessing that in the past they were both used....just not sure which is correct.

Roland I have been searching for this answers as well. Thanks for the picture and clarification.

Now my question is: What if the fork bracket isn't quite long enough to engage the foot rest rod? Could the carriage be the wrong model?

I,m working with a 149 as well. The mule drive is a 62 383 C91 per CPE-2B. The mower deck will be a 482U1113. I bought everything from Todd (Zippy) and we noticed the issue at that time. However, we didn't go into serious details and we checked three other carriages that he had and they all would have the same issue. I/we thought that once the deck and everything was mounted, things would come together. In researching I saw that the fork bracket on some carriages had perpendicular brackets welded on them in what looked like an extension to make them a bit longer. I also noticed those welded brackets in the operator's manual as well as the service manual.

I haven't tried to mount the deck on yet until I figure this problem out.

Mike

As I understand your question, you have a 149 that you are trying to mount a 482U1113 (48") mower deck to.

:bigthink:

Perhaps you can snap some pictures to better clarify the situation.

Yes, that is what I am hoping to do. I know that the manuals say that the 149s came with 38, 44 & 50 inch deck options, but this 48 is what Todd had and we didn't think it would be a problem.

Despite which deck size gets mounted, are there specific carriage frames that fit different tractor models? Except for the lift hanger brackets there isn't any other adjustments that can be made for mounting the carriage to the mule drive and tractor.

I'll work on taking pictures tomorrow. I'm a bit burned out today after spending all day Saturday chasing an electrical issue on my 95 (I'll be posting a question for that in the RER section). Yesterday was spent trying to mount the carriage on the 149 and then researching what might be the problem and/or solution.

Thanks
Mike
