Cheap 782
 

There is a 782 on fleapay going for $255, but the engine smokes. I don't know what motor comes in a 782, nor how feasible it is to rebuild one. To tell you the truth, I know very little about the 82 series at all. This tractor is about 250 miles from me, don't know if it would be worth it or not. Another thought is that I need a deck and 3 point for my 149, and this 782 has both. With the price I see people paying for parts on fleapay, would it be worth buying it for the parts I need, then parting out the rest? Any thoughts welcome. :bigthink:

I'd fix the 782 and sell the 149. The 782 is a much nicer tractor than a 149 in my opinion. There's enough people parting stuff out already...

Does it have a series I or series II engine? If it has a series II, it can be rebuilt and is worth it. A series I cannot be rebuilt. If it has a series I, you can replace it with a series II, Kohler Magnum 18 or Kohler Command 18 or many other engines.

Gotta agree...once you take a spin on that smokin 782, it'll be tuff to get back on your 149. Don't let the 255 price fool you, i'd be way surprised if it didn't go for double that.

Yea, it's up to $335 now. I e-mailed owner, has series 1 engine, tractor sn# IH 2050594U674311.

For the prices I have seen others go for, if you got it for under $400 it would still be a deal!

That's a nice low serial number. Buy it, run it til the engine dies and put in a series II or mag 18
