What Would You Pay?

I am looking at 1782 with 1044 hours. It will not move forward and will move in reverse a small amount. The power steering does not work at all. I am thinking that the charge pump is bad, but I am not sure. From the picture it looks like the plastic has some damage and the deck has parts missing. He said the engine starts and runs great. It is about 2 hours from me. His asking price is 1500.00 What would you give?

So it's essentially a giant paperweight/parts tractor...without working hydraulics it's worthless... IMHO he's wanting way to much....but I tend to be a bit on the cheap side these days... I wouldn't give over 500 all I'd be interested in is the engine...

I dunno, What does a good used transmission go for?

The diesel engine will run any deck that will fit under the tractor. But the big decks usually cost good money.

It's also possible that it's a broken pin and the drive shaft isn't turning the transmission.

I believe he is a little high on his price, but I'd probably pay $1000.00 for it, I don't think it would take all that much to make a decent tractor out of it.

Absolutely worst case, it will part out for a lot more than that.

I would offer $1k. The engine should be worth that if it's a good runner. That machine has the CV driveline so it's prolly the pump or busted rear. I know where a super rear and pump are if you need one.

I'm with Mark and Todd on the price. $1000, not a penny more if it were me. There are pumps out there, so not too big a deal. Good luck and keep us posted...........:beerchug:

Kind of a crap shoot. It could be something simple, dirty filter, low on fluid, linkage issue or it could be a toasted pump. It not steering concerns me because that run off the charge pump. $1000.00 would be max for me.

I think we are on the same page. I am going to look at it Friday. Correct me if I am wrong, but that pump has a splined shaft so would the broken pin not apply to this model? He said he changed the fluid but did not change the filter. It may wind up being a parts tractor who knows now.

Yep it has a splined shaft. Not likely but if it was never greased the splines could be worn out, not unheard of on the diesels. Pump adapter could also be shot. Also unlikely but possible. You should be able to see the pump shaft turning if you look under the fuel tank from the back. No spirol pins on the Cyclops series.
