It's a good day to rid yourself of debt!
I know it's not quite Cub related but I had to share! I'm excited today because, for the first time since I've been 18, I no longer have a vehicle payment (not 100% accurate, there was a period of about a month or two when I paid off my last car but then I dove right back into the American debt pool). Been putting away extra every month and that allowed me to pay off my truck 9 months early! Think I'll have a celebratory cold one tonite in honor :beer2:

Congratulations. It feels good to be able to actually save and manage your finances, doesn't it. Not having to worry about money day an night is also a big plus.
I've been debt free since 2012. It's great. (no monthly payment, no mortgage(paid off early), just my monthly utility bills, property rent(tax), insurance, and food/fuel expenses. At least I have something left over to save now. |
Paying off a vehicle sure does feel good, right there with ya. Now if I could just put a dent in the mortgage and the student loans!:bash2:

I recently paid off my truck too. Just in time to spend money to refurbish my 100. It's the first time since about 2002 that I haven't had a payment on my vehicle.

Congratulations Ryan.

Haven't had a truck/car payment for a few years. Still don't have extra money! Lol I'm working a partime job saving that for wife's new SUV. That plus our tax returns for last few years will go to that next spring. Shhhhh I do dip into it sometimes for misc cub parts and tools! I worked for it! Lol we refinanced the house a couple years ago and it will be paid off in 9 years. Not sure what SUV we'll get just been looking for now.

Thanks guys, it's a great feeling to be debt free (except for you know, the house payment)! :biggrin2:

Congratulations Ryan! My advice, for what it is worth, is to take whatever your payment was and stash it back into an escrow account or some hidden account so that you are still in the habit of making the payment. Then when it comes time to purchase a new(er) vehicle, you will have a sizeable down payment and will still be in the habit of making payments. I paid my truck off early and did not have any vehicle payment for 8 years. Then, time for another truck and I have been living tight ever since, despite paying off one house and paying the other one down while working two jobs for the past 15 years. If nothing else, that extra savings can be used while you are "cub scouting".:biggrin2:
