A couple more that I find questionable.. I believe this is called the mule drive, or mule rack or something.. basically the lower subframe that holds the deck...

the second is the front axle or I guess spindle? doesn't look like a factory weld to me!

Can't say for sure on the Mule Drive but the one on the spindle is :biggrin2.gif: not a factory weld.

Right now I'm taking the if it ain't broke don't fix it.. approach.. But I think I'll be giving quite a few things the "once over" and "twice replaced" treatment this winter..

My welding teacher called them splotch welds.I have seen uglier welds hold...

what you have here is a "gorilla weld" uglier than heck (I agree I have seen much uglier!)but strong !
