Cub Cadet 100

just got back from looking at a 1963 cub 100. I was hoping that someone would give me a rough estimate.

The tractor is a 1963 100 model with a 10 horsepower engine. It was completely restored and had a mower deck. The guy was asking $500.00 for it which seems pretty good for my area. The only thing is that it is missing the starter-generator which I think go for at least $50 to $75. Also I was wondering when or if they ever had fenders.

Welcome to OCC.

Fenders were an option for those who wanted them.

I would require a definition of "completely restored" from the owner if I were buying a "completely restored" anything.

Especially if you can't hear it run.

I sold an unrestored 100 with a deck, no options, and a smoky 10hp for $500.
The guy couldn't load it fast enough.

do you have any pics of it?

no, I don't have any pics.

One of my other options is a bare bones 100 with out a deck (or any other attachments). The tractor needs a lot of work like wiring and new paint. After all that it looks pretty complete (it has a starter-generator). The kid is asking $150.00 for it which is a lot more comfortable price for something that needs work.

Go get them both I say. They quit making them you know :biggrin2:
Can't tell on the restored one without pics but around me that would be a good price.

:bigthink: I never thought of that!

Sounds to me that for around $650, you could have a nice 100 and a parts tractor...but I would definitely get the current owner's definition of "restored" (including receipts if available) before offering him a price.

I would find a starter to put on it to hear it run before you buy it. The guy may have pulled the starter off because there are engine issues. If the buyer can't start it they won't know the engine's bad. Lots of shady sellers out there.

I guess that in a perfect world that would be my plan BUT, I do not have that much money to spend on them. Also my mom is not to happy about me spending that much money on two tractors that don't run (I am only 16). I am talking to a few more people to have a few more options, like a 102 (running) with a 42 inch deck and a snow plow for $400.00 which is at the top of my list right now.

You could buy the cheaper one and pull the starter off to take with you when you look at the other Cub.
