Another Cub in the garage, first time poster
I've been a lurker for a while and I have had a Cub push mower with a Kawasaki engine on it but nothing worth posting about obviously, until just this last weekend my dad offered me his 149 out of the barn. So I emptied my truck and raced up there to grab it before he changed his mind (he is keeping a 1450 for himself).
So heres the skinny. Its a bit rough, doesn't run, needs tires and plenty more. To me it has a great core and the important things are there and in great shape. I was told it didn't have any spark so the points cover has been removed (and long lost) before I got to it. To my suprise, whoever was looking at it before must not know how to check for spark, because I definitely have spark. Pictures to come for sure very shortly. My 3 boys are very excited to get started working on it so they can drive it. I've already had them unmounting the original tires to put some better ones on it and assisting testing the motor and electrical so far. The wife is looking forward to helping out also, she helped me do some resto work on my Nova and rebuild the motor so shes got some known good skills. This will be a long enjoyable resto and I will throw up some pictures when I remember. BTW I'm in the west burbs of Chicago :beerchug: |

nevermind the blasphemy in the rear, I was forced to take both or I couldn't get the cub. I know its a terrible shot of the tractor but I didn't have much time once I unloaded it. |
That's a truck full of potential there. Well half of it has potential:biggrin2:
149s are great, one of the handiest of the Cubs. |
Cool deal! Sometimes ya gotta take the bad with the good, sorta speak! Lol kinda like to maybe find me a 149 or 169.

nice score my 1972 149 was a gift from my dad as well and the deere aint that big of a abomination (I have 1 too)

already offloaded the JD to a friend of mine because first, I don't have room for two tractors, or a need for two for that fact, and the other is my yard is not big enough to justify even using the 149 on it, it's more of a I really want one kinda thing more than a need one.
Got plans for the cub this weekend though. Waiting on a new coil and plug coming in, new tubes for the front wheels, new fuel lines, new battery and a couple more things so hopefully it will be running by Sunday. It has a 44" deck on it and the spindles feel great, so once its up and running I may give it a whirl before really tearing it apart (nice to know whats working and not before stripping). |

Nice looking tractor has a lot going for it. Should be a great project for your family
