Narrow frame PTO bearing question

I needed to replace the engine drive PTO bearing on my 124. I had gotten a new one and in the process of changing the bearing, I notice the new bearing has a snap ring in the inner race. The snap ring does not allow me to set the bearing flush to the end of the crank. It stands out about 1/8". What gives????? I installed the bearing with this snap ring and it seems to work just fine. Should this snapper be removed and bearing set flushed to end of crank?

Old bearing IH number 60071-C91 from older parts manual. I have 60071-C92..... number listed on the Cub Cadet parts website for the 124.

I'd take the snapring out, they never had one

This is common. Kind if like the new aftermarket v/r with the G terminal underneath instead of on the side like it used to. I've installed it as is but told myself to take out the snap ring next time because it does say flush in the manual I believe
