cc 129 tranny hydrostat ?

Running just fine as a pull tractor for a small trailer that I put on vegetable seedling flats on to transplant in the garden. Started up to return to the barn and would not move either in Forward or Reverse. towed back to barn with the tranny disengage lever proper position.
1. checked linkages which seemed ok.
2. checked fluid in tranny and noted to be very low. Refilled with Cub Cadet tranny fluid and no response when tranny engaged.
3. my CC contact suggested that the pump could have lost its prime in the tranny. Is there a technique to perform this or are we in more of a major diagnostic or repair project???

Thank You

Sound like you sheared a pin on the driveshaft. Very common.

The charge pump does NOT need to be primed.

From what you are describing, I would suggest you look for this. Is the "output shaft" at the rear of the hydrostat unit rotating, at the same speed (RPM's) as the drive shaft...??

Or at all? :bigthink:

Going out on a limb here, have seen when run out of fluid, a little air pressure in the fill hole while running, brings back the prime, especially if the charge pump/hydro is worn.
just a rag around an air hose will usually do it.
Keep in mind ya don't want to go over a pound or two pressure.
You can do this AFTER you check for a sheared pin in the drive coupling.:biggrin2:
