What's a good price
 

I'm just about finished with my 1980 IH cub 582. I have replaced the motor with another 16 hp Briggs & Stratton, a new clutch and throw out bearing, all new decals and had all of the body panels, 44" mower deck and plow professional power coated. I mean it really looks like a brand new 582. Here's my latest picture Attachment 65617

A bunch of my friends are bugging me to sell it. If I decide to, what would be a good price to ask? I also have an extra plow both are IH, tired chains, plastic weights, spare rear tires and the original 16 hp Briggs as a parts motor.

It looks fantastic! After all that hard work, time, and money you put into it, why sell it? Use it and enjoy the fruits of your labor, don't cave in to peer pressure just because THEY want you to sell it. Do YOU want to sell it is the question. :bigthink:

I would tell my friends to find there own, no way I'd do all that work on a tractor and then be bugged into selling it unless you can put some ridiculous price on it and there willing to pay. I'm all for giving friends a good deal but sometimes they just have to get there wallet out like everybody else.

unless these friends were helping you work on it then I wouldn't give them any deals. Price on it is hard cause there isn't anything new that's made that good.
I guess add up what you have spent on it and make sure you get something more than that. Just for arguments sake I'll throw out $2500
Just keep it I say

Just tell them 3000. They'll leave you alone after that or you'll be one of the few to turn a profit on a Cub. Win-win.

That looks like a very nice tractor, great job.:beerchug: I can almost guarantee that you will not get what you have in it. I have more money in most of mine then they are worth but that's okay cause I'm having fun. You are also in PA, where I see more Cubs in one day then I will see a year in Georgia.


I purchased a poor running 682 with low hours, everything original, nicest original paint I've seen on a machine with awesome condition original tires and deck. It was also one of the last ones built with a 693xxx serial tag. I paid $750 for it and just about everyone I know said I paid way too much.

I'm saying this because I don't see you getting anything over $1k but I would start there. I'm thinking $500 to $750 but I hope I am wrong.

After all the work and money you just spent on it I wouldn't sell it at all, friend or not.

I would agree with many others, that is to hold on to it and enjoy it yourself....If nothing else, in parades and show it. However, that is not the reason why you posted, so I would ask $1000-$1200 (that is short of what you probably have in it and way short on your time in it) and then you can always negotiate down to a price that you are comfortable with.
