Nordic Plow on a 982?

3 Attachment(s)
Hey Guys,
I'm picking up my first Cub Tomorrow :biggrin2: needless to say I'm super excited. I have been studying up on implements I can add to it as it only comes with a 50" or 54" deck I'll verify once I have the Tractor in my possession:bouncy:. I'm so giddy it's disgusting! Anywho, The issue of the plow is what I'm thinking of. As I posted in other areas I found JD plows I could possibly modify for $75 near me. But I also have a nice Nordic Plow I used on My POS soon to be gotten rid of Craftsman LT2500 with a 22HP Kohler Courage. The Craftsman just has an inability to get through the snow.
I have an idea and I wanted to reach out to you guys to get some opinions. I am thinking of mounting the the Nordic Plow to the 982.
Mine is a V-plow they don't make anymore.

SO here is what I'm thinking. I want to add hydraulics to the plow so I can move it around from my seat. The issue is. I don't know much about Hydraulics. I found an interesting video on Youtube about doing something like this:

:buttrock:
How do I found out how much psi the Hydraulics on the 982 can handle? Do I need to create some sort of control box or are there simple controls on the 982? I'd like to be able to control it side to side and up and down. would that require a different controller? Are the mounting brackets on that come with the nordic Plow enough or should I swap it out for a modified plow mount for the 982 series? Thanks in advance for any ideas you guys can come up with.

The description in the link calls it a lawn tractor plow, you just bought a super garden tractor...."One of these things is not like the other". It looks like a lot of plastic bolted together without a subframe under the tractor. I'm not sure why your craftsman wouldn't push, do you have weights and chains (or ags)? Without them the 982 won't push well either.

I wouldn't waste my time with it, I'd send it down the road with the tractor it goes to. Get you a few more dollars to spend on the correct blade and subframe. I would try to find a 54" blade, a 42" would be ok if you have a smaller driveway. Also, I don't think a $75 JD blade is going to be of anymore quality than the one you have.

Does your 982 have dual hydraulics? If so, it is already set up to lift and angle a blade. You would just have to modify a blade to angle if you don't find a power angle blade for a 982. If not, you'll need a dual spool valve and all necessary lines and hardware.

The Hydro system on the 982 is more the adequate to handle that Nordic Blade.

Once you get the 982 home, take a picture(s) of the hydro levers on the Dash Panel, and post them. We will go from there.

If someone could help me decipher the Serial number I would appreciated it.. From what I understand looks like it was made some time between October and November of 1980?

It has all the controls like you guys said it would and it has 2 Hydraulic ports up front.

One of the 2 fuses up front was blow and I replaced it with a AGC20 I got from Home Depot. Hopefully that is ok. I have it on the trickle charger right now hopefully it has enough of a charge soon so I can try to start it. It's a little rough but to me it's beautiful. I can't wait to get it running.:bouncy:

It Has a 50C mower deck. I'm going to have to take it off as I think it looks a little banged up up front.:bigthink:
