Creeper gear box
I now own first Cub Cadet. This is model 104 and got cardboard box with what I am told is creeper gear for this tractor. What I need to know is what are some of problems installing this gear box. All info. and ideas I would be thankful for. Thanks Phil

you will need to shorten the drive shaft to work with the creeper. my advice would be to remove the engine and disassemble the clutch then roll the rear end out of the tractor with the drive shaft still attached. once its out you can install the creeper to the rear end and shorten the drive shaft and re install the same way it came apart. the drive shaft should have an extra unused hole in it in the middle and you can cut the shaft about a 1/4" behind that hole and it will then be the correct length for the creeper.
you can contact member jeffinpa or yosemite sam to buy a new drive shaft if your not comfortable cutting yours, both have very reasonable prices. |

There is clutch shaft, complete clutch parts, bolts and several other pieces in the box of parts. Maybe won't be such bad tear down and install creeper gear. Thanks for the reply and info. Thanks Phil

You will still need to pull the engine and disassemble the clutch and remove the rear end, if you don't you'll wish you did trust me. Its almost impossible to install a creeper gear in a narrow frame without having the rear end out of the tractor.

How about posting some picture of what you have there.

I will post pictures when I get home this weekend. I will take the good advice on removing transmission when I start the upgrade. Could be best time for paint. Thanks Phil
