122 choke cable routing question.
1 Attachment(s)
Hello there everyone, I'm new to the forum. I am having some issues installing the choke cable on my 122, not sure if it is the original cable or right length, it seems a little short or maybe I'm not routing it right. It was laying in a box with misc. parts when I got the tractor. I will post a better close up picture when I get home.
Thanks, TigerCub |

Ok, made it home and took some close up pictures, is this being routed the right way? Or is it the completely wrong size cable?

routing looks the same as my 122, i bet the cables to short.

Here's a big pic of my former 122 when I brought it home.

Here's my 123...prior to restoration and a proper paint job.

From what I see I'm going to assume that I have the wrong cable. I'll have to look up the part# and order the right one. Thanks for the help everyone and the great pictures.

You have the cable mounted incorrectly. The choke cable bracket bolts on the flywheel shroud, and the throttle goes where you have the choke cable bracket .
|
In Sawdustdads picture the choke cable goes down and under the coil and up to the bracket and then to the choke. Is that not right? That's what I was trying to do, but the cable seems to be a couple inches too short.

Go to an auto parts store. Buy a choke cable. Cut it to the right length. They cost less than $15, maybe even less than $10. It will look just like the original one.

Think this worked out pretty good, went to Northern Tool and picked up a universal choke cable for around $10 and cut to length, did same thing with the throttle cable, that was about $8.
