Tire Situation
Hey Folks,
I have a Super Garden Tractor model 2086 and I need to replace the turf tires that are on it. I am constantly spinning on a section of my yard. The tire size is 26x12.00-12. I was thinking about the Carlisle Tru Power Tires Would I need new rims or do these tires include the rims? I'm confused from the description/picture. If not, should I just use the rims from my turf tires? Bring to a tire shop? How easy are they to put on. Seems it would be more convenient for me to have another set on rims in case I ever wanted to switch them up. |
No they don't come with rims. You would ether have to find another set of rims if you want to keep the turf tires or just mount them on the rims you got. I go to walmart to mount my tires its only $5.

If you can get them to dismount the tires and remount them later for the same $$ after you clean and paint the rims now would be the time... and it will make your rims last longer as well as look good. Altho you can probably mount them yourself fairly easily if you have enough air to set the beads.

You need weight. NC hills? I have TN hills. You need weight, no other answer.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...ngterm/mv1.jpg CI rear, 26x12x12s loaded, two sets of weights per and I can still lose a bit of traction turning up hill. On the wheels? Supers have their own off-set, they are out there but NOT easy to find. Shop around on the Trupowers....think I paid $89 each for mine and I've seen them for $129 other places....shop. Your wheel/tire should be in the neighborhood of 175lbs/200lbs each. Scott |
I just bought Tru Powers for the rear of my super and Vredestien v61's for the front. I bought them from "Miller Tire". Great people to deal with. I'm with Murphy on the weight. The more the better. I'll be loading mine soon with liquid, Probably "rim guard". I just had to paint my rusty rims. I mounted mine myself but it's a chore.
Here is the only pic I have at the moment because my tractor is apart. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...re014Small.jpg http://www.millertire.com/ |
If you're just planning on using it for mowing or hauling a cart around, ags with weights is plenty in my opinion unless you're going to use ground engaging attachments. I plowed for the first time today with the super today and didn't have a chance to fill the tires. I only had 50lbs of weights on the landside and zero weights on the furrow tire. It was a 12" Cat 0 plowing at 5 to 6 inch depth and It did pretty good, although I would have preferred more weight. That's with aluminum rear. By the way your walmart is nicer than mine. Those jerks charged me 20 bucks to mount the two front tires on the rims for the 782!
