Down 147
Hi folks,
I got a 147 with original K321 and I can't keep it running. It runs strong for about 5 minutes, then shuts down! Any thoughts?? |
I am gonna say a fuel restriction or maybe a shot coil.

I just rebuilt the carb could it be I have the float set wrong?
|
Can you start it up right away or do you have to wait awhile?
|
I can start it right away but I have to completely suffocate it,( hand over the carb) I took the head off and it has a dark black deposit on it( believe it's carbon)?

Now, did you have the head off, before or after the running issue? A few more in dept details and picture of the underside of the head and head gasket would help out in some diagnoses. Welcome to OCC:beerchug: |
Choke is connected, problem was the cause for rebuild, took head off after running issues to check my valves, everything operates as it should, maybe new high and idle speed needles in jets? Replaced needle and seat, o ring gasket and flapper diaphragm, all gaskets replaced, kinda at a loss without much clue to begin with lol

Sounds Iike a fuel issue. Maybe your idle or chock isn't set right. I had an issue where in of my machines would only run with the choke on...come to find out the idle screw was set to low...man did I feel dumb lol

I would take the float bowl off and turn on the fuel supply and see what happens. Put a coffee can or something under to catch the fuel. Maybe the float is hanging up or possibly the sediment bowl is clogged up. Once I had a cub with same problem and I found one of the tangs the pin goes thru was bent just enough to restrict the operation of the float. Just a couple ideas to check out. Just have to start bird dogging it. :beerchug:
