Play time with my new-to-me chainsaw

Based on advice given in this thread:

http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=37783

I came home with a Stihl 029 20" chainsaw today. All I can say is this a very solid gas beaver. A buddy and I were able to fell a dead tree in my backyard after studying the situation carefully. Knowing which way we wanted it to fall, we attached a length of chain and heavy tow strap for extra insurance. Cut our wedge, cut our crosscut, and boom goes the tree. Enjoy the pics and thanks again for all the advice and help guys :beerchug:

PS Of course as the first tree fell on my land and with this saw, I had to show off how big my wood is :biggrin2:

Think you need to carve a chair out of that stump!

I was expecting to see the tree on top of the pickup. :biggrin2:

No..... what I see is Ryan going at it from behind! :ROTF2:

Ryan, I see you tried to hinge that cut.....gave up on it? They can be tough to do as a newbie!

Congratulations on you new toy!

Got some chain saw time today with the MS290, cut up some dead stuff also got some seat time on the BX 2660 using the FEL. Now that the cleanup is done I'm ready to relax and cut grass with the 2182. Don't think it will be long from the looks of things. :beerchug:

One of the guys I knew in high school did that. He did tree work on the weekends and the tree twisted as came down.

The front page of the local newspaper had him standing next to his formerly nice '69 ford truck with the tree felled directly dead center along the bed and cab. :bash:

Actually the hinge came out very well, what I think you're looking at are footholds we were playing with cutting in to help make our way up the tree to get it tied off to pull down. Here's a better angle; you can see the wedge we cut and the smaller foot holds we were playing with at first :beerchug:
