1872

My dad happened to be at an auction today where there was a 1872. It looked rough, side panels missing and needs a little tlc. It does have the 60" deck and a set of wheel weights on it. I told him to keep an eye on it and he happened to get it for $400. He said it had 1200 hours. What do you guys out there think? Ill get some pictures of it when we get it home.

Off the top of my head I think you did OK. It's worth at least that if you part it out. Post some pics for a better opinion.

Is that the level part of your head Sam? :biggrin2:

OP: For $400, you did pretty good. If it runs and works as it should, minus the missing panels, you did borderline great. Now, PICS!!

Looks the grill is missing as well. I have the pictures on my phone but don't know how to get them on here. Auction was in zumbrota, mn. Houghton auction. One of the last items sold.

You did very well on that deal. All the parts needed are very common and should be easy to find. :beerchug:

Add 60 for the front deck wheel assy...But it does have the steering wheel cap!

I picked up the1872 today at the auction site. Threw a new battery in it . Fired right up, well after I pushed the throttle up a bit. It doesn't seem to smoke much and sounded descent. All the hydraulics seem to work normal. There has been a oil leak up front for a while it appears and I assume it's the front seal, maybe actually the rear seal (PTO side). I will do some more digging into it tomorrow after I get some of the dirt and oil off to confirm where its leaking. I'll keep you guys informed. Oh I forgot, I did a quick compression test and came up with 85-90 on one side and 95 on the other. What should the values be. Thanks.

I still would like some input on side panels and a grill as well (where to get). The steering is loose but I think I got that covered ( joints from McMasters) much cheaper. All the help is very appreciated.
