Is This an Acceptable Repair?

1 Attachment(s)
I bought this 2182 a short while back from a good friend. He had purchased the unit a little over a year ago as a "rebuilt/refurbished" machine. He subsequently had many problems with it and sold it to me as a very reasonable price. I knew the machine had multiple issues and am well satisfied with the deal.
When refurbishing the Haben deck, I ran into this repair and thought I would share and see what others thought about the repair quality. I believe it is Sam who says something about, Some people should not be allowed to use tools.:biggrin2:

Are those pieces of a beer can used for a bushing?

had on old boss who was kinda cool his quote "fix it temporary if it works its permanent" kinda funny and he always bitched when it cost more to fix later problem was when this stuff came up it was a piece of equipment that had to finish job. when done it got fixed rite... dont think a mower is one of those pieces of equipment that has to work now should just been fixed properly

Yep, three different bushing materials used, including a beer can. And yes, it is a gauge wheel.

It's one thing to "mickey mouse" something to get a job done but I am not impressed at all with that :censored:

If the pulley is difficult to find or expensive to replace, I can fix it CORRECTLY.

I piece of pipe would have been a better repair than that.

I thought it was a dirty pulley :biggrin2:

It scared me when I first saw the picture, I thought it was a spindle pulley. Cobbling up a bushing for a gauge wheel is something I might do for a short term fix.

Ouch!

I did a little digging a while ago and came up with these as possible replacements for the rear wheels on the Haban decks. They are from McMaster. I have not tried them but I think they would work.
